Skyfall

As a little bit of a contrast to Josie's The Perks of being a Wallflower I have to write about a movie that many people already talked about but which is also - no doubt - the best one if seen in a VERY long time.

TADADAAAAA

It's Skyfall, James Bond/Daniel Craig is amazing and I could even say it's one of my favourite Bonds'. I love the storyline (which I am not going to tell you about since it's just in the cinemas now and I don't want to spoiler (is that even english???) anything), the actors, especially the beautiful Bond girl and SPOILER !!! the new M!

But my surprising favorite is the new Q, he looks young and inexperienced but I love his humor and do think that his very few gadgets are well thought out. (And in a nerdy way he is definitely - even though Josie would disagree - quite cute.)

Definitly a movie worth missing a Halloween Party for!!

GO WATCH IT ;)

Love Love Love It.

xxx Victoria

PS.: I reeeeeally like the soundtrack!!!

PPS.: "Q" is only cute in the movie wearing glasses and NO beard, don't like the actor ;)

Books - The Perks of being a Wallflower

"He's a wallflower...You see things. You keep quiet about them. And you understand."    - The Perks of being a Wallflower, Stephen Chbosky

As I promised, I would make this post and talk to you about this book, The Perks of being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. And I'm in love with it. I seriously think it's the best book ever written. I finished it last night, and even though I had to get up at 7.30 this morning, I read till like 3 o' clock last night because I just couldn't put it away. I just couldn't. And that's not cause the storyline is particularily interesting, or the characters are very funny or something like that. It is just a really great book. I read it trying to be a 'filter, not a sponge', to put it like Charlie, or more like his English teacher Bill. The things Charlie notices and says are all very true, and it's actually scary how true they are. Like you knew they were there somewhere, but you never put them into words or thought about them for longer. And that's the most brilliant thing about this book. That it makes you realize things you never thought about before. And you understand.

For those of you who haven't read the book, read it (order it online here). If you want to know what it's about, I'll give you a brief summary...

Charlie is a freshman. And while he's not the biggest geek in the school, he is by no means popular. Shy, introspective, intelligent, beyond his years yet socially awkward, he is a wallflower, caught between trying to live his life and trying to run from it. Charlie is attempting to navigate his world through uncharted territory: The world of first dates and mixed tapes, family dramas and new friends; the world of sex, drugs, and The Rocky Horror Picture Show, when all one requires is that perfect song on that perfect drive to feel infinite. But Charlie can't stay on the sideline forever. Standing on the fringes of life offers a unique perspective. But there comes a time to see what it looks like on the dance floor.

OK, you're right, I did not write this summary by myself, I simply copied it from the back of the book...but I think it gives you a really good overview about what the book is like. All I can say is to read it. Really, do it, you won't regret it!

And now I'll leave you to buy the book and to read it...I'll probably read it again. And again. And again. I always do that with my favourite books. You just can't notice everything by reading it only once. You'll see...
Lots of love,
Josie xoxo

Fashion - Eleven Paris

After more than a month where you haven't heard from us, I thought it was time for another sign of life. We both have been very busy with work, and we're really sorry! But believe us, we would rather spend our time with our laptops letting you know what we like and dislike than being covered in work and having to worry about our Extended Essay deadline. Or personal statements. But I do not want to talk about school now, instead I want to tell you what we have been up to over the last couple of weeks except revising and staying up till 2 at night because we realized we haven't done this essay or that homework (I'm doing it again.)

Victoria just returned from her history trip to Washington DC and Atlanta, and what I heard from her and by looking at the pictures on facebook they had a lot of fun (she will probably tell you more about this herself soon). It's half term for us now, and we really needed a bit of time apart from school and the stress...despite we love the people there! But sometimes you're just glad to be on your own again. So am I, I'm just sitting on my couch reading the best book I've ever read so far, The Perks of being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky (I am going to tell you more about it as soon as I finished it), and listening to music. Victoria (and my boyfriend) would probably say that it's the most rubbish music in the world, but I really like it and even though it's depressing most of the time, it makes me happy and I can relax. Music really is one of the things that helps you through a hard and long day, and it's the only way you can survive the IB. But I'm going off topic again, so I'll tell you about the thing I actually wanted to talk to you about, before I said a lot of irrelevant stuff.

One day last half term, Victoria got this parcel and there was this really really really cool T-shirt in it and I thought everyone should have a T-shirt like that in their wardrobes. Because I don't like buying the exact same clothes someone else I see every day has, I looked it up in the internet, and I found...THIS.

Eleven Paris is a french label and one of my favourites this month (but I promise you my love for it will last longer than a month...). They have absolutely unique stuff and I have never seen something like that before. They don't have a huge collection, but I really love the things they do have. If I had the money I would probably buy it all. But I don't so unfortunately I can't (happens to me all the time...). Some of you may think that €50 is quite expensive for a T-shirt, but let me tell you that these T-shirts aren't just simple T-shirts, they are stylish and absolutely unique and so nice to wear and you can combine them with almost everything. Also, have you seen the flip flops they sell? Have you ever seen a thing as cool as that? Well, I haven't. But I will make sure you do by telling you this little secret, and I will make sure the people at my school do by wearing their stuff almost every day.
Have fun with shopping, whilst I will go on and read my book, so I can tell you about it later.
And to finish off with some French skills:
Bisous et à bientôt!

Fashion - Would you wear these?

There are things you either absolutely love or totally can't stand. This also applies for clothes, such as these dresses: When I found them on tumblr the other day I immediately fell in love with them. I googled every possible way of describing them to find out where to buy them, but Google only came up with ways to dress cats, which wasn't quite the thing I was looking for. I even saved the picture on my laptop to then zoom on the price tag, but unfortunately, that didn't work either. So I asked around, but the only thing I heared from my friends was 'What the hell is that? I probably wouldn't even wear them for a costume party, never mind in public!'. Well, I know that this isn't for everyone, but I would totally wear them! What do you think? And where can I buy them?
Lots of love,
Josie

Random - My addiction to Soft Grunge

I don't know about you, but I have this absolute obsession with soft grunge pictures. My cousin asked me what that actually was, and I wasn't even able to explain. I really can't tell what it really is - I just absolutely love those pictures. I am spending hours reblogging them on tumblr (if you want you can follow me here), and I am so addicted it almost annoys me because I don't even know what I'm actually doing on there all the time. But as I started to love those soft grunge pictures, I began to dress more like the girls in the pictures too. It's just so inspiring! I love boots and oversize shirts and jumpers and jackets and I really like to look a bit grungy. And more natural...I realized that when I watched High School Musical 3 with a friend last week. I love Vanessa Hudgens, but she's just a bit too...perfect. Her hair and her face and her eyes and her clothes and just everything about her is so perfect. I want to be a little less perfect and a little more me. That's why I really like Miley Cyrus' style. I absolutely adore her (well, her new hair style is debatible), but apart from that she has a great style. Natural, grungey, a bit rebellious - I just love it. Plus she doesn't care what others think of her, and that is something everyone should do. I stopped giving a fuck and started living and dressing the way I wanted to. Miley Cyrus, these pictures and the style - they just show self confidence. That you are happy with yourself no matter what others say. And I think that is the reason why I love them so goddamn much.
Lots of love,
Josie

Hair - Dip Dying

love dip dyed hair! But I think it depends on your hair style what colour looks best. For long, light blonde hair, I find light pink very nice (like in the picture). Shorter, dark or hazelnut brown hair looks fabulous with blonde ends, and red-haired fashionistas jazz up their hair style with a warm dark brown. It's an easy way to change your style when you don't know what to do with your hair (or when you don't want such a huge change like cutting your hair by 20 cm). I normally prefer natural colours, but I make an exception for really long (!!), light blonde hair, which just looks amazing with light pink ends. It wouldn't look too nice if you dyed it in a really dark colour like black or dark brown; the difference between the two colours would be too big. So whatever you like best, keep an eye on the difference between the colours. In doubt just ask your hair stylist, friends, parents...or me!
Lots of love,
Josie

Fashion - A way to stay warm and stylish

I found this picture on tumblr, and I totally fell in love with it. It reminded me of last year's autumn, when I went camping with my friends...This jumper is just the perfect way to stay stylish AND warm. The important thing is that the jumper must be massively oversize, so you can wrap it around your body. You can either take one of your boyfriend's jumpers (so cute. Plus it smells of him, so you can think of him wherever you go) or, if you don't have a boyfriend (such as me), look in your dad's wardrobe and I am pretty sure you'll find one. If you still aren't successful, you can buy  them at topshop.com or riverisland.com. Or ask your Nan to knit you one! They always look the best anyway, plus you will have a unique model!
Lots of love,
Josie

Music - Flex

One of the benefits of going to a boarding school is that you meet loads of people who ALL tell you about their favourite music and loads of times it is actually so good that you just cannot stop listening to it. :)

Flex is a great example of such music. One of his songs - "Nothing To Say" is acutally the inspiration for our blog's title. Besides being definitly good looking (look at the picture!!) he makes great music, a bit of rap and pop maybe?

What he definitly managed to do is to make music that we, Josie and I, both enjoy! She is hopelessly romantic and hates all the dubstep and house and also the sligthly more Indie music that I listen to while I just can't stay all the lovesongs she is listening to ;).

Our favourite Flex songs are "Playground" and "Nothing To Say".

Watch "Playground" :))

Just watch some of his videos, they are not only incredibly well produced but are also just fun to watch, (is it that hard to put some vegetables into a bowl? REALLY?).

Thanks for making our past days awesome!

Fashion - The thing about Skinny Jeans

I'm always getting a bit mad when I read things like "You can hide your skinny jeans at the back of your closet now, they are so last season!" in fashion magazines. Why the fuck are they last season? I see people wearing skinny jeans everywhere I go, and I love them! They match with absolutely everything, they are comfy, they are easy to get. Sure, there are other types of jeans coming. But never say that skinny jeans are last season! They might not be the only type of jeans you can buy anymore, but they are definitely still worn. They have always been worn, and they will always be worn. Just as simple as that. So I won't hesitate to buy skinny jeans this season, and next season, and the season after that...despite all the fashion magazines that are telling me I should hide them. I would rather frame them and put them up all around my house.
Lots of love,
Josie

Fashion - Late Summer Magic

Don't you find late summer as magical as me? I totally love it. It's probably the time of the year I like the most. I'm a total summer girl, nothing makes me happier than being able to wear my favourite sundress, while I'm out with the girls for some summer shopping. But late summer just feels so...magical to me. It's the time when I get back from vacation, and all the post cards and letters and catalogues are lying on the table waiting to get sorted. I usually look at the post cards first, then grab all the catalogues and won't come out of my room for hours because I am looking through all the new autumn stuff. And even though I enjoy summer so much and I love sun and ice cream and hotpants, I am so incredibly excited to go do some autumn shopping!  Because with fashion & the seasons, that is a thing for itself. If you asked me what season of the year I liked the most, you would get two answers: I like the weather best in summer, definitely, but the autumn fashion is just heaven. Not too much to wear (like in winter), nor almost nothing at all, like it's the case in summer. And I could die for all the trench coats and boots and knit stuff and so on (if I listed everything I would probably not be ready by tomorrow...). And late summer is just the best time for autumn shopping. You don't feel all 'OMG it's summer let's wear hotpants everyday even if it's not even that hot!', but at the same time, you're not quite ready to give up wearing skirts and dresses just yet. Late summer is just like twilight (nope, not the book.) - it's not quite light but not totally dark either. And twilight does have this magical something, don't you think? And I find the sitting-in-my-room-shifting-through-the-new-autumn-collection-catalogues-for-hours pretty amazing. OK, maybe you think I'm totally insane right now. But isn't that also a good thing? If we were all the same, the world would be a pretty boring place. So I'll go get my catalogues. If you don't hear from me for a while: I'm stuck trying to find out whether I like wine red or coral pink better this season.
Lots of love,
Josie

Hi guys!

So, this is our new blog! We will try to update it as often as we can, when we are not busy studying for the IB...
We are Josie and Victoria, two girls from Germany, but going to school in the UK and we love travelling! This is a blog about style, fashion, hair styles, manicure, music, countries, etc...we have plenty to write about! And we hope that you guys find it interesting, so we don't just keep talking to ourselves...
At the moment we are in our second year of IB, and it's only 8 months to go until the great finish! Kinda scary to be honest...but sooooo exciting aswell! Imagine all the fit guys at uni...aww! And as Frances Fisher alias Ruth DeWitt Bukater in Titanic says: The purpose of university is to find a suitable husband. Well, if not a husband, a simple boyfriend would do it aswell...At least for Victoria, because I am already busy cooking weekend meals for my boyfriend (who has no cooking or washing up skills whatsoever) in boarding school (not that I have a life or anything...). College life can be quite exciting aswell, you know...
Well, this was only a little insight into our lives, more will follow!
Lots of love,
Josie & Victoria
